Anderson, Pfeiffer Split In Softball

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson's Kelly McCrodden limited Pfeiffer to five hits and two runs in the second game to lead the Lady Trojans to a 6-2 victory and a split of a CVAC softball doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Smethers Field. In the first game, Etta Tate drove in the go-ahead run with a ground out and Mindy Hartgrave followed Tate with an RBI single in the top of the eighth to give the Falcons a 6-4 victory. Anderson broke on top in the second game with four run in the second. Stephanie Griffis and Melissa Waters both had RBI singles in the inning. Anderson added single runs in the third and fifth for a 6-0 lead before Pfeiffer scored two runs in the sixth on a run-scoring single by Erin Furness and a walk with the bases loaded. In the first game, the Falcons scored three runs in the sixth to tie the game at 4. After two Anderson errors put two runners on, Sheena Bailey delivered a two-run double. Bailey later scored the third run on a ground out. Pfeiffer pushed two runs across in the top of the eighth and then Tate shut down Anderson in the bottom half of the inning to preserve the victory. Andeson is now 18-29 overall and 9-5 in the CVAC, while Pfeiffer is 6-27 overall and 4-8 in the CVAC. Season Statistics
