Softball Team Splits Two Games In Florence

FLORENCE, S.C. -- The Anderson College softball team split a pair of the games in the final day of the Francis Marion Tournament Sunday. In the first game, Anderson beat UNC Pembroke, 3-2. Anderson pitcher Stephanie Griffis allowed four hits and two runs in the first inning then allowed just one hit the rest of the game. Anderson scored single runs in the final three innings to pick up the victory. Carolyn Smith provided an RBI single in the fifth, Griffis doubled and scored on an error in the sixth, and Crosby, who scored the first run after a single and a pass ball, doubled and scored the winning run on a single by Rachel Lawrence. In the second game, Anderson led 3-2 through four innings, but then Armstrong Atlantic erupted to close the game out in the sixth, 11-3. Anderson, 10-19 overall, finished the weekend in Florence with a 2-3 record.
