LENOIR CITY, Tenn. – Led by senior Jake Miller and freshman Calahan Keever's three-round 1-under-par 215s, the Anderson University men's golf team finished seventh at Lincoln Memorial's Tennessee River Rumble, Tuesday at the Wind River Golf Club.
The Railsplitters hosted the two-day, 54-hole tournament on a 6,986 yard, par-72 layout.
Nationally 14th-ranked Young Harris led the event wire-to-wire and won by a comfortable 24 strokes over runner-up and host Lincoln Memorial, which moved up two spots. Wingate remained in third place, while No. 23 Carson-Newman vaulted all the way from 11th into a tie for fourth with 16th-ranked North Georgia after posting the best round of the day (281). Erskine claimed sixth place, with the 25th-ranked Trojans finishing one stroke further back in seventh place.
Belmont Abbey and Queens shared eighth place, with Barton finishing in 10th place. North Greenville, Newberry, Lenoir-Rhyne, Southern Wesleyan, Tusculum, Lincoln Memorial B, King and Walters State Community College finished out the 18-team field.
Young Harris' Peter Chung (69-69-67=205) overcame a four-stroke deficit after the first two rounds to catch Wingate's Charles Joubert (65-69-71=134) on Tuesday, with Joubert holding on and claiming individual honors in a playoff. The Mountain Lions' Tobias Jonsson was two strokes further back in third place.
Miller and Keever finished in a tie for 15th place, with sophomore Reece Coleman finishing in a three-way tie for 32nd. Sophomore Anthony Sutton tied for 44th place, while freshman Daniel Coker finished 79th. Senior Colt Martin finished in a tie for 84th.
Following a three-week layoff, the Trojans are scheduled to compete at the two-day 2021 South Atlantic Conference Championship, which is slated to be hosted by LMU at the Woodlake Country Club in Tazewell, Tenn.
