Chiles Torches Queens To Lead Anderson To Its Eighth Straight Victory

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- LaShonda Chiles scored a season-high 38 points to lead Anderson University to a 98-79 victory over Queens University of Charlotte in a CVAC women's game Monday night. Chiles, a junior from Greenwood, S.C., was 13-for-23 from the field and 8-for-14 from behind the arc. She also had seven assists and two steals. Her 38 points was three off the single-game school record of 41 she set against Queens on Feb. 7, 2005. She extended her double-figure scoring streak to 66 straight games. Mikala Fogle-Wilson and Deidra Langston added 18 points apiece for Anderson, which won its eighth straight to improve to 18-3 overall and 14-1 in the CVAC. Fogle-Wilson was 4-for-7 from behind the arc, and Langston was Anderson's leading rebounder with eight. Queens, 3-18 and 2-12, was led by Phylicia Turner with 31 points. Anderson, ranked No. 4 in the East Region, led 49-33 at the half and maintained a double-digit lead the entire second half. The Royals got no closer than 12 points in the second half. Anderson shot 50 percent from the field while limiting Queens to 38 percent. The Lady Trojans were 12-for-24 from behind the arc and 24-for-31 from the free throw line.
