Chiles Leads Anderson Past Mount Olive, 81-71

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - LaShonda Chiles scored 26 points, 22 in the second half, to lead Anderson University to an 81-71 victory over Mount Olive in a CVAC women's game Saturday afternoon. Anderson, 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the CVAC, led for start to finish for the second consecutive game. Following Chiles for Anderson were Deidra Langston, Latrice Thomas, and Mikala Fogle-Wilson with 16 points apiece. Chiles, a junior from Greenwood, S.C., was 9-for-12 from the field and 6-for-7 from the free throw line. The big difference in the game was turnovers. Anderson scored 40 points off 29 Mount Olive turnovers. Anderson built an 11-point lead - 33-22 - with 4:37 remaining in the first half and led 41-34 at the break. In the second half, Mount Olive cut the Anderson lead to six - 52-46 - with 12:58 to play. But back-to-back 3-point goals by Chiles help push to the Anderson lead 60-48 with 11:06 left. A single free throw by Langston gave Anderson an 81-63 lead with 1:45 to play. The 18-point margin was Anderson's largest of the game. Mount Olive, 7-4 overall and 2-2 in the CVAC, was led by Alisa Jones with 21 points. Jones also had a game-high 10 rebounds. For the second straight game, freshman Gina Holbrook was Anderson's leading rebounder with eight.
