Thomas Makes Two Free Throws To Lead Anderson Past Francis Marion

FLORENCE, S.C. - Latrice Thomas made two free throws with 2.5 seconds remaining to give Anderson College a 70-68 victory over Francis Marion in a non-conference women's game Wednesday night. Anderson, 4-2 overall, was led by LaShonda Chiles, who scored a game-high 26 points to move into first place on the school career scoring list. Chiles, a junior from Greenwood, S.C., passed Regina McCoy, who scored 1,519 points during her career with the Lady Trojans. Chiles now has 1,539 points and has scored in double figures in 51 straight games. Keana Boyd followed Chiles for Anderson with a career-high 20 points. Thomas finished with 12 points. Creshenda Singletary was Francis Marion's leading scorer with 20 points. Danielle Moore added 18 points for the Patriots, 3-4 overall. Both teams made 25 field goals, but Anderson took 18 more shots from the field. Francis Marion finished the game at 44 percent to Anderson's 34 percent. Anderson led 35-30 at the half and built a double-digit lead in the second half, but Francis Marion rallied to tie the game and set the stage for Thomas' heroics. Chiles also had five assists and three steals. Anderson played without starter Deidra Langston, who missed the game because of a sprained ankle. Anderson's next action is Jan. 5 at home against Belmont Abbey.
