ANDERSON, S.C. - LaShonda Chiles drained a 13-foot jumper with six seconds remaining to give Anderson College an 80-79 victory over Lees-McRae in a CVAC game Tuesday night at the Abney Center. Chiles, who made just one of 10 shots from the field in the first half, bounced back in the second half to finish with a game-high 26 points. Anderson improves to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the CVAC, while Lees-McRae falls to 1-2, 0-1. Anderson led 23-21 with 8:30 remaining in the first half before Lees-McRae went on a 16-4 run for a 37-27 lead with 1:25 remaining. Stephanie Mullinax, who led the Bobcats with 24 points, led the run with 10 points. The Bobcat lead reached 15 points - 54-39 - with 15:24 before the Lady Trojans started crawling back into the game. Three free throws and a 3-point goal by Mikala Fogle-Wilson and a putback by Deidra Langston cut the Lees-McRae lead to 59-58 with 10:36 remaining. But the Bobcats would not relinquish the lead. Lees-McRae was able to increase its lead back to seven points on two occasions before Anderson made its final push. Trailing 78-71 with 4:47 remaining, the Lady Trojans went on a 9-1 run to pull out the victory. Chiles scored seven of the nine points. Fogle-Wilson and Langston finished with 16 points apiece for Anderson, while Latrice Thomas chipped in 13. Following Mullinax for Lees-McRae were Dianca Jones with 23 points, Denise Wilson with 13 points, and Laura Parker with 12. There was a total of 46 fouls in the game - 24 against Lees-McRae and 22 against Anderson. The Bobcats were 21-for-26 from the free throw line, while Anderson was 19-for-30. Led by Mullinax' game-high nine rebounds, Lees-McRae won the boards, 39-30. Chiles also had six of Anderson's 15 assists. Lees-McRae shot 56 percent in the first half and finished the game at 53 percent. Anderson shot 48 percent in the second half to finish the game at 40 percent.
