Anderson Women Beat District of Columbia, 88-71

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Anderson College placed four players in double figures on its way to an 88-71 victory over District of Columbia in a non-conference women's game Saturday afternoon. Anderson, 3-2 overall, was led by LaShonda Chiles with 20 points. She was followed by Mikala Fogle-Wilson with 19 points, Deidra Langston with 17 points, and Latrice Thomas with 15 points. Chiles, a junior from Greenwood, S.C., needs just seven more points to pass Regina McCoy and take over the No. 1 spot on the Anderson career scoring list. Langston, a junior from Gainesville, Ga., reached a career milestone Saturday as she scored the 1,000th point of her career. She did not miss a shot in the game. She was 4-for-4 from the field and 9-for-9 from the free throw line. For her career, Langston has scored 1,007 points in 72 games for the Lady Trojans. District of Columbia, 2-7 overall, was led by Deidra Bumbrey with 19 points. Anderson shot 48 percent from the field while limiting D.C. to just 32 percent. The Lady Trojans dominated the boards, 49-34. Thomas had nine rebounds, while Genia Holbrook, Kim Hausman, and Langston all had seven rebounds apiece. D.C. stayed in the game at the line by making 30 of 40 free throws. Anderson led 40-36 at the half.
