Anderson Women Move Into A Tie For First With Victory At Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C. - Anderson University placed four players in double figures and scored a season-high 93 points to beat Limestone 93-81 in a CVAC women's game Monday night. The victory improves Anderson, ranked No. 4 in the NCAA Division II East Region poll, to 12-3 overall and 8-1 in the CVAC. The Lady Trojans are now tied with Barton for first place in the league standings. The loss drops Limestone to 6-11, 3-7. Deidra Langston led Anderson with 23 points. She was followed by Mikala Fogle-Wilson with 22, LaShonda Chiles with 20, and Kim Hausman, who was 4-for-6 from behind the arc, with 14. Limestone was led by Monica Adams with 23 points. Anderson, which has scored 80 or more points in seven of its last eight games, built a 19-point lead - 42-23 - in the first half. But Limestone scored the final 12 points of the first half to cut Anderson's lead to 42-35 at the break. The Saints got within two points twice in the opening minutes of the second half but could never could get the lead away from the Lady Trojans. Five straight points by Langston gave Anderson a 65-57 lead with 10:57 to play. Chiles, who has scored in double figures in 60 straight games, pushed the Anderson lead to 10 - 73-63 - with a 3-point goal with eight minutes remaining. From that point, the Lady Trojans managed to get their lead back to 16 points on two occasions late in the game. Anderson's bench outscored the Limestone bench, 42-15. Haley Riffle came off the Anderson bench to lead all rebounders with a career-high nine rebounds. The Lady Trojans had another good night at the free throw line - 21 of 28 (75 percent).
