TROJANS SWEPT BY FATAL PFEIFFER PITCHING

MISENHEIMER, NC--The #28 ranked Anderson University Trojans (13-9, 5-4) ran into a brick wall made of Pfeiffer Falcon (16-5-1, 4-2) pitching this weekend, as the Trojans dropped all three games of a Conference Carolinas series on the road, capped Sunday afternoon by a tough, 12-inning battle that ended 3-2 with a walk-off homerun from Pfeiffer's Will Davis. Until game one on Saturday, catcher Trent Still had homered in 6 consecutive contests, and he was eyeing the NCAA DII record of 7 straight. But the Falcon hurlers were on point all weekend long. "We just ran into great pitching this weekend," said Trojan assistant coach, Jason Rutland. "They used that to put pressure on us all weekend, and they made hits when they needed to." The Trojans were led by Still in game three as he went 2-4 with a run and an RBI. There was not much offense to speak of on Saturday, as AU garnered their only run from senior first baseman, Andrew Davis; he went 3-3 in game 2. Over the series, seven Pfeiffer pitchers combined for 32 K's while only conceding one earned run. The Trojans will bring in back to Anderson Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, as the Erskine College Flying Fleet come to town for a non-conference dual at 6:00pm.
