ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson University baseball team added six players during the early signing period, head coach Joe Miller announced Friday. The six newcomers are: -- Chanler Cox, 6-5, 200, INF/RHP, Hanahan, S.C. As a sophomore at Hanahan High School, Chanler hit .316. He is ranked by Diamond Prospects as the No. 10 first baseman in the state of South Carolina. "He has the opportunity to hit for power and we think he has unlimited potential," Miller said. -- TJ Estes, 6-0, 170, RHP/INF, Rock Hill, S.C. In 2008 at Northwestern High School, he struck out 26 in 21 innings. For his summer team -- the Carolina Reds -- he struck out 104 batters in 95 innings. "TJ has a mid-80s fastball and a breaking ball that will produce outs at the collegiate level," Miller said. -- Kyle Francis, 5-11, 165, RHP, Sunrise, Fla. He was a four-year starter on the mound at Pine Crest Prep. He owns the school record for assists in a season. Last spring, he struck out 10 against No. 1 Heritage-Plantation. "Kyle has a chance to be a big contributor right away," Miller said. -- Jake Long, 5-9, 175, RHP, Anderson, S.C. At Westside High School, he was 2-0 as a junior and struck out 17 in 14 innings. He also hit .308 and was second on the team in stolen bases. "Jake has a power arm and will run his fastball into the 89-91 range," Miller said. "He loves to compete." -- Tony Price, 5-11, 165, INF, Columbia, S.C. He was ranked by SC Varsity as the No. 4 infielder at the 2008 Summer Showcase. "Tony is an extremely good fielder with a strong arm," Miller said. "He has a great work ethic." -- Erick Sanderson, 6-3, 195, OF/RHP, Hanahan, S.C. As a junior at Hanahan High School, he struck out 35 in 35 innings and had an ERA of 2.40. He also batted .460 with six home runs and 34 RBI. "Erick is going to be a legitimate two-way threat at Anderson," Miller said. "He has plenty of juice in his bat and runs well for his size."
