Anderson Splits with Defending National Champions

Anderson, S.C. - The Trojans end their winning streak at six, splitting a doubleheader Saturday afternoon with Mount Olive College. In the first game, Anderson pounded out 12 runs. They were lead at the plate by third baseman Matt Hill's two homeruns. Starter Chris Pitts earned the win, throwing seven strong innings. Brady Peele and Cory Welch would combine to throw two scoreless innings to preserve the win for the Trojans of Anderson University. The second game had the makings of a pitcher's duel, with Mount Olive's BJ Dail going head to head with Anderson's Bryson Graydon. With the score tied 1-1 in the sixth, Mount Olive would score three to go up 4-1. Mount Olive would add five more in the seventh to extend the lead to 9-1. Dail would go the distance for Mount Olive, tossing 7 innings while only allowing two hits. Anderson now stands at 9-4 (4-1). The series will conclude Sunday, with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 pm.
