Carson and Trojans slam #17 North Georgia

Anderson, S.C. - Blair Carson hit a towering walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat #17 North Georgia 9-5 Wednesday night. Carson was 3-5 on the night with a triple, homerun, and 5 RBI's. BJ Smith was 3-4 with an RBI. The Trojans used 5 pitchers on the night. Starter Luis Martinez (0-0) threw 4 1/3 innings for the Trojans, leaving with a 5-2 lead. Justin Rogers, Elliott Tolley, Brady Peele, and Cory Welch provided a strong showing out of the bullpen to set the stage for Carson's heroics. Cory Welch picked up the win to move to 2-0 on the season. In the ninth inning, Nick Easterlin started things with a walk. With one out, Alex Roberson hit a shot down the third base line that was snared. The throw was low, and the runners moved to second and third. With one out, Trent Still was intentionally walked. Carson provided a towering homerun to center field that ended the game. The Trojans move to 4-3 on the season, and open up conference play on Saturday against St. Andrews. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
