Trojans Erupt In Ninth To Smash North Georgia

DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- After suffering three losses in the ninth inning in the past two weeks, the Anderson College Trojans struck back Wednesday night. Anderson scored eight runs in the top of the ninth inning to beat North Georgia 16-8 in a non-conference game. Anderson, 17-25 overall, sent 13 batters to the plate and had nine hits and a walk in the top of the ninth to overwhelm North Georgia. Seven players had run-scoring hits in the inning. Donavon Schmidt, Clint Neville, Jeremy McCauley, and Jessie Whiteside all had RBI doubles in the inning. Neville's double brought home two runs. Tony Graham, who entered the game in the eighth to play defense, finished the game 2-for-2 with 2 RBI. Seven Anderson starters finished the game with multiple hits. Neville and McCauley led Anderson's 18-hit attack with three hits and three RBI apiece. North Georgia, which had won 24 of its previous 25 games, saw its record drop to 39-11. Aaron Griffith scattered eight hits and allowed four runs in six innings to pick up the victory. Will Cheatham entered in the eighth inning to pick up his second save of the season.
