ANDERSON, S.C. -- Creg Green singled to score F.A. Vildosola and cap a four-run ninth-inning rally to give Anderson College an 11-10 victory over Newberry College Sunday afternoon at Anderson Memorial Stadium. Anderson, 3-4 overall, trailed 10-7 entering the bottom of the ninth against Newberry reliever Jared Locke, who had shut down the Trojans after entering for starter Russell Haltiwanger with one out in the fourth inning. Jeremy McCauley and Donavon Schmidt started the winning rally with back-to-back singles. Clint Neville followed Schmidt with a three-run homer to left field to tie the game at 10. After Neville's blast, Locke was replaced by Ty Rollins. Rollins walked Vildosola, who advanced to second on a passed ball and moved to third on a bunt by Josh Harrison. After Seth Thompson received an intentional walk, Green ripped a single down the left field line to end the game. The Indians, 2-3 overall, jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the second. Newberry started the inning with five consecutive hits, including a pair of two-run singles by Ryan Easterby and Clark Mullins. The Indians increased their lead to 8-1 in the fourth on a double by Mullins, singles by Matthew Webb and Anthony Dillenger, and two wild pitches by Anderson reliever Brad Owens. Anderson climbed back in the game with a six-run fourth. The big hits in the inning were a two-run single by Tony Graham and a two-run double by McCauley. Will Cheatham pitched one perfect inning and struck out one to pick up the victory in relief. McCauley led Anderson's 12-hit attack with three hits and two RBI.
