Barton Routs AC To End CVAC Tourney Hopes

WILSON, N.C. -- Sunday's game was a must-win for Anderson College, but the Trojans couldn't get anything going against Barton College. The Bulldogs collected 14 hits against three Anderson pitchers to beat the Trojans 15-3 and end any hopes AC had of making next weekend's CVAC Tournament at Wilson, N.C. Barton, 21-26 overall and 11-13 in the CVAC, swept the three-game weekend series and outscored Anderson, 33-10 in the three games. To make the CVAC Tournament, Anderson needed a victory over Barton on Sunday and a victory by Mount Olive over Pfeiffer. That didn't happen either as Pfeiffer rallied to beat Mount Olive, 8-7. Anderson, 20-31 overall and 7-16 in the CVAC will conclude the 2005 season with home games against Catawba on Monday and Kennesaw State on Tuesday. In Sunday's game, the Bulldogs scored three runs in the second, seven in the fifth, and three in the eighth. Barton sent 11 batters to the plate in the fifth. Dennis Blackmon led the Bulldogs' offensive attack in the final game of the series. He was 3-for-4 with four RBI and scored four runs. AC Baseball Season Statistics
