Women’s Golf in 14th Following Opening Round at Kiawah Island Intercollegiate

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Paced by Sophomore Riley Lovorn's 8-over-par 80, the Anderson women's golf team is in 14th place following opening-round action Saturday at the 2016 Kiawah Island Intercollegiate, hosted by Tusculum at the par 72, 5,825 yard Cougar Point Golf Club layout.

Florida Southern leads the 16-team field by six shots over Armstrong State, with Lenoir-Rhyne's Abby Hatrsell and Armstrong's Pamela Mosley tied atop the leaderboard after firing 1-over-par 73s on the day.

Lovorn sits in a four-way tie for 25th, while freshman Makalyn Poole is one stroke further back in a tie for 29th. Fellow freshman Tiffany Elam posted an 11-over-par 83 and is tied for 44th, with senior Braiden Furtick in a five-way tie for 72nd after carding a 91. Freshman Blake Hodges also posted a 91 and shares the 72nd spot.

The two-day tourney is slated to wrap up on Sunday.
