Women’s Golf in 10th After Opening Round of Patsy Rendleman Memorial

SALISBURY, N.C. - With sophomore Riley Lovorn carding an 8-over-par 80, the Anderson University women's golf team finds itself in 10th-place following Monday's first round of the Patsy Rendleman Memorial, hosted by Catawba at the Country Club of Salisbury on a par-72, 6,005-yard layout.

While shaking off the rust from a month-long layoff, Anderson is three shots behind ninth-place Coker and four shots in front of 11th-place North Greenville. West Georgia (297) leads the 14-team field by two strokes over UNC Pembroke (299), while King (309) is 10 shots further back in third. Converse posted a first-round 318 and occupies the fourth spot ahead of fifth-place Tusculum (319).

Pfeiffer (320), Lenoir-Rhyne (320), Lincoln Memorial (321), Coker (326), Anderson (329), North Greenville (333), Belmont Abbey (335), Erskine (339) and Barton (356) round out the field.

West Georgia's Stephanie Bennett (68) leads the tournament by three shots over teammate Franziska Bremm (71), while UNC Pembroke's Laura Bird and Rebecca Mirovich are tied for third after firing identical 72s on the day.

Lovorn sits in a four-way tie for 25th heading into Tuesday's final round, while freshman Makalyn Poole shares the 29th spot after carding a 9-over-par 81. Senior Braiden Furtick (83) is tied for 37th, with freshman Blake Hodges sharing 47th after equaling her best round of the season with an 85. Freshman Tiffany Elam rounded out the Trojan contingent with an 86 and is tied for 57th.

The final round is scheduled to start Tuesday morning.
