Women’s Golf Ties for Seventh at Patsy Rendleman Memorial

SALISBURY, N.C. - The Anderson University women's golf team wrapped up the Patsy Rendleman Memorial by jumping three spots to finish tied for seventh on Tuesday at the Country Club of Salisbury.

The Trojans began the day in 10th place on the par-72, 6,005-yard layout, but vaulted past Pfeiffer, Coker and Converse by slashing 10 strokes off their team score and marking the second-largest improvement of the 14-team field during the final round.

West Georgia (297-310=607) led the two-day event wire-to-wire and won the tournament by two shots over UNC Pembroke (299-310=609), while Tusculum (319-311=630) jumped two spots into third place. King (309-324=633) slipped from third to fourth, while Lenoir-Rhyne (320-315=635) was two shots further back in fifth place.

Lincoln Memorial (321-324=645) maintained its hold on sixth place, with Anderson (329-319=648) claiming a share of seventh place, alongside Pfeiffer (320-328=648). Belmont Abbey (335-318=653), Converse (318-336=654), North Greenville (333-326=659), Erskine (339-330=669), Coker (326-344=670) and Barton (356-359=715) rounded out the field.

West Georgia's Franziska Bremm (71-73=144), who entered Tuesday's final round in second place by three strokes, rallied for a three-shot victory over UNC Pembroke's Ashlii Thompson (76-71=147).

Freshman Makalyn Poole fired a 7-over-par 79 during Tuesday's second round and moved up nine places to a share of 20th place after a two-day total 160. Sophomore Riley Lovorn (80-81=161) finished in a tie for 26th, while senior Braiden Furtick (83-79=162) finished in a three-way tie for 30th.

Freshman Tiffany Elam posted the biggest improvement for the Black and Gold, jumping 19 spots and finishing in a tie for 38th after a two-day 166. Freshman Blake Hodges shared 53rd after notching a two-round 171.

The Trojans are slated to wrap up their fall schedule in two weeks by competing at the Illinois-Springfield Island Getaway, which will be hosted by the Prairie Stars at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar in Puerto Rico.
