ANDERSON, S.C. – Laken Maxwell and Hannah Whitaker of softball, and Beau Henson of men's lacrosse have been named the Jimmy John's Athletes of the Week.
Maxwell, a sophomore from Bowdon, Ga., picked up three wins in one week while striking out 22 batters in 18 innings pitched. The three opponents combined for a .190 batting average versus Maxwell.
Whitaker, a sophomore from Liberty, S.C., finished with 12 hits, two doubles, two triples, and a home run. For the week, she had an impressive batting average of .667 and an on base percentage of .714.
Henson, a senior from Woodstock, Ga., scored five goals with two assists in the opening game of the season for the Trojans. Before the season, Henson was named a captain.
Each week, one male and one female student-athlete are honored as the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Week for his or her performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
