Men's Lacrosse Gets the Best of Barton 16-6

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's lacrosse team picked up their second straight win on Saturday (Feb. 19) with a 16-6 victory over the Barton College Bulldogs at Spero Financial Field.

The Trojans came into Saturday's contest off a 21-8 victory over Young Harris on Wednesday (Feb. 16).

After 15 minutes of play, Anderson held a 3-2 lead courtesy of goals from Beau Henson, Ryley Zopfi, and Triston Schaffer. Barton scored the equalizing goal to open the second period, however, the Trojans scored seven unanswered goals to end the half to take a 10-3 lead into halftime. Three of those scores came from Nick Calabrese, and three of the Trojan goals were a man-up.

The success from Cam Weeks in the faceoff circle continued to fuel the Trojans in the second half, as he finished the game winning 21 of his 24 attempts with 17 ground balls. Logan Gaddis had four of his six assists in the second half as the Trojans defeated Barton 16-6.

"I'm proud of how we competed as a team," said coach Albert Mitchell. "Our focus now turns to Wednesday."

The Trojans will be back in action on Wednesday (Feb. 23) as they play host to the North Greenville Crusaders. Opening faceoff is set for 7:00 p.m., with video and live stats available at www.autrojans.com.
