Trojans Score 24 Goals in Win Over Lincoln Memorial

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's lacrosse team picked up their fifth consecutive win, and their first SAC victory of the season, by defeating Lincoln Memorial 24-6 on Saturday (Mar. 5) at Spero Financial Field.

The Trojans entered the weekend with a 4-2 record, picking up two wins last week over North Greenville and Embry-Riddle. Beau Henson scored nine goals, with seven of them against NGU, to earn himself SAC Astroturf Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week honors. Henson, along with teammates Cam Weeks and Peyton Jefferson, was named to the USILA D2 Team of the Week.

Anderson came out firing in the first period, scoring 15 goals in the first 15 minutes of play. The Trojans kept their foot on the gas as they scored five more times in the second period, going into halftime with a 20-2 lead. After a scoreless third period, Triston Schaffer scored his game-high sixth goal of the day to begin the fourth period, fueling a 24-6 victory.

Schaffer led the Trojans with six goals on the day. Beau Henson, Garrett Hawkins, and Matt Morgenroth each had three. Logan Gaddis, Eli Meyer, and Ryley Zopfi each scored twice for Anderson.

Cam Weeks won all 21 of his faceoff attempts, picking up 19 ground balls. Logan Trafton had seven saves in goal, while Spencer McNearney finished with four in his collegiate debut.

"Great team win for us today," said coach Albert Mitchell. "There is a lot to build from as we prepare for Mars Hill."

The Trojans will be back in action on Saturday (Mar. 12) as they travel to take on the Mars Hill Lions. Opening faceoff is set for 4:00 p.m., with video and live stats available at www.autrojans.com.
