Weeks Sets SAC Record for Most GB's in a Season in 18-10 Win Over Tusculum

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's lacrosse team bounced back on Wednesday (Mar. 30) with an 18-10 victory over the Tusculum Pioneers at Spero Financial Field.

After a tough 17-13 defeat to Catawba over the weekend, the Trojans were looking to get back in the win column on Wednesday evening. Anderson jumped out to an early 6-2 lead after the first period, with six different players each scoring a goal.

Momentum continued for Anderson as Trey Davis opened the second quarter with a pair of goals, which were his first two collegiate scores. Going into halftime, Anderson led Tusculum 10-4.

Isaiah Hines and Ryley Zopfi each scored two goals in the second half, finishing the match with four goals apiece. Their efficiency on the attack helped fuel the 18-10 win for Anderson.

Triston Schaffer led Anderson in points with five on two goals and three assists. Logan Gaddis scored while dishing out three assists. Ryan Gundersen scored twice, while Jack Goldstein, Beau Henson, and Kaleb West each scored once. Defensively, goalie Joey Heckel finished with 10 saves, and Logan Trafton recorded three in 11 minutes played.

Cam Weeks made history in the first period, as his third ground ball of the night marked the 164th of the season, which sets a new South Atlantic Conference record for the most ground balls in a single season. For the night, he finished with 11 ground balls to put him at 172. Weeks went 13-17 on his faceoff attempts.

"We are really proud of Cam and all that he has been able to accomplish in such a short time, it is a testament to his work ethic" said coach Albert Mitchell. "As a team, I liked the way we responded tonight. We played well in every facet. Our attention now turns to Limestone next Saturday."

The Trojans will be back in action on Saturday (Apr. 9) as they will travel to Gaffney, S.C. to take on the nationally ranked Limestone Saints. Opening faceoff is set for 12:00 p.m., with video and live stats available at www.autrojans.com.
