Trojans Extend Win Streak to Four With 10-4 Victory Over Embry-Riddle

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's lacrosse team picked up their fourth consecutive win on Sunday (Feb. 27) with a 10-4 victory over Embry-Riddle at Spero Financial Field.

On a rainy Sunday afternoon, it was a low-scoring defensive battle in the first period as neither side was able to get on the scoreboard. That changed late in the second period for the Trojans, as Triston Schaffer scored a pair of man-up goals, both assisted by Beau Henson. Embry-Riddle was able to answer with two goals of their own, as the score was tied two to two heading to halftime.

After Embry-Riddle took the lead early in the third period, Garrett Hawkins and Ryley Zopfi each scored as the Trojans took a four to three lead going into the fourth period.

To kickstart the fourth period, faceoff specialist Cam Weeks won the faceoff, and took it himself for his first goal of the game. After an Embry-Riddle answer, Anderson finished the match with five unanswered goals to fuel a 10-4 non-conference victory.

"Great team win today," said coach Albert Mitchell. "Our focus now turns to SAC play beginning on Saturday (Mar. 5) against Lincoln Memorial."
Ryley Zopfi, Beau Henson, and Triston Schaffer each scored two goals for the Trojans. Logan Gaddis scored once with three assists, while Garrett Hawkins had one goal and four ground balls. Cam Weeks won 13 of his 17 faceoff attempts with 10 ground balls, while Peyton Jefferson caused three turnovers and picked up two ground balls. Goalie Joey Heckel picked up the win with nine saves.

The Trojans will be back in action on Saturday (Mar. 5) as they play host to Lincoln Memorial for their first South Atlantic Conference contest of the season. Opening faceoff is set for 1:00 p.m., with video and live stats available at www.autrojans.com.
