Trojans Fall to Limestone 20-5

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Anderson University men's lacrosse team dropped their South Atlantic Conference contest to No.3 Limestone on Saturday (Apr. 9) by a score of 20-5. The Trojans came into the match coming off an 18-10 win over Tusculum on Wednesday (Mar.30), which marks 10 days between contests for Anderson.

On a cold and chilly Saturday afternoon, it was a defensive minded first period for both teams. The Anderson defense held strong for a majority of the first quarter, limiting the Limestone attack to just four goals as goalie Joey Heckel picked up two of his 11 saves on the day in the period.

The Trojans started the second period with their first goal of the day, taking advantage of the man-up opportunity as Beau Henson scored off an assist from Logan Gaddis. Limestone responded with five unanswered goals, going into halftime with a 10-2 lead.

Ryley Zopfi, Peyton Jefferson, Rex Hardy, and Nick Calabrese each scored second half goals for the Trojans. However, the Saints continued to control the pace of playa as they went on to win by a score of 20-5.

The Trojans will be back in action on Wednesday (Apr. 13) as they play host to the Newberry Wolves. Opening faceoff is set for 7:00 p.m., with video and live stats available at www.autrojans.com.
