Men's Lacrosse Preps for Florida Southern

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's lacrosse team is preparing to start their 2022 season on Friday (Feb. 4) as they play host to Florida Southern at 7:00 p.m. at Spero Financial Field.

The Trojans are coming off a great inaugural year as they picked up four wins, including a trip to the South Atlantic Conference tournament and an all-conference selection in freshman faceoff specialist, Cam Weeks.

"Year one was great experience for us," said coach Albert Mitchell. "We were able to have some success as well as some failures, both have made us grow. The mindset for this year is the same as last; we want to focus on us and the program we are building towards. We had a great fall getting our incomers acclimated to our culture, and the preseason has continued in that direction."

Florida Southern is coming off a 2-6 season in 2021, with a 1-4 clip in the Sunshine State Conference. In the preseason coaches' poll, the Moccasins were picked fourth in a conference consisting of eight teams. The trio of Jeff Atlas, Kevin Horwitz, and Edward May were selected to the Second Team All-SSC following last season.

"Florida Southern is a great test for us in game one of the season," said coach Albert Mitchell. "They are a historically competitive team that is constantly competing to be in the top-20. I am excited to see how we stack up against them."

Game time is set for 7:00 p.m., with video and live stats available at www.autrojans.com.
