Weeks and Jefferson Named to USILA D2 South All-Region Teams

ANDERSON, S.C. – Cam Weeks and Peyton Jefferson of the Anderson University men's lacrosse team have been named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's South All-Region Teams, announced on Tuesday (May 24).

Weeks, a sophomore from Mt. Pleasant, S.C., earned first-team honors after an historic sophomore season as he set the new SAC record for ground balls in a season with 174. His faceoff percentage of 82% is the new all-time season high for all three divisions of NCAA. A signature game of Weeks' sophomore season came on Feb. 23 against North Greenville, in which he won 31 of his 35 faceoff attempts while picking up 28 GBs in the 17-16 win. Before the season, he was named an All-American by Inside Lacrosse, USILA, and USA Lacrosse Magazine. Earlier in May, Cam was named a second-team All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine.

"Cam had an historic sophomore year, putting up numbers we have never seen in the sport before," said coach Albert Mitchell. "It is a testament to his work ethic and love for the game. I am looking forward to seeing how Cam can continue to improve on his historic performance this season in his next two years!"

Jefferson, a redshirt junior from Allen, TX, earned honorable-mention honors after transferring to Anderson from Hofstra University. Jefferson was a vital part of the Trojan defense this season, causing 32 turnovers which was tied for second in the SAC. He also had a great game in the win over North Greenville when he caused five turnovers. His game high on the season was six caused turnovers in the loss versus Queens, which earned him USILA D2 Team of the Week honors. Before the season, he was named one of the four team captains.

"Peyton has been a tremendous addition for us coming as a transfer student," said Michell. "He instantly brought leadership and swagger to our defense. He brings a great mix of excellent defensive skills and is also a huge threat in transition. It has been great to see him progress with his hard work ethic. We are all very happy to see him be recognized for his efforts and are looking forward to seeing what he can do in the future."

The Trojans finished their second season in program history with a winning record of 9-7. The season included a win over nationally ranked Wingate, which helped Anderson earn a ranking of 19th in the USILA National Poll. Beau Henson and Joey Heckel earned All-SAC honors after the season along with Weeks and Jefferson.
