Dotson Records 5,000m NCAA Nationals Provisional Qualifying Mark at Virginia Challenge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. - Elliot Dotson of the Anderson University men's track and field team highlighted action on Friday (Apr. 21) by breaking the school's, and his own, 5,000m record with a time of 13:57.18. The time also provisionally qualifies Dotson for the NCAA Nationals May 25-27 in Pueblo, Colorado. Spain Vaughan also ran the 5,000m as he posted a time of 14:26.93. 

Daniel Similton led the way for the Trojans at the Georgia Tech Invitational, coming in 12th place in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:34.97. Adam Trusty posted a time of 4:00.02 in the 1,500m, with Jonathan Roberts (15:24.57), Dylan Lego (15:37.29), and David Williams (15:55.26) running the 5,000m. In the field, Simeon Respress recorded a distance of 6.65m in the long jump.

On day two, Ben Molitor led the Trojans in the 400m with a mark of 49.42. Logan Berzins (50.30), Hunter Norman (51.95), and Ian Macurda (51.99) also ran the event. Michael Burgess (2:04.24) competed in the 800m for Anderson. The men's 4x400m relay team consisting of Berzins, Macurda, Molitor, and Norman finished 15th with a combined time of 3:30.38. 

The Trojans will now prepare for the SAC Outdoor Championships, which they will host at the AU Track Complex May 3-4. More information can be found as the meet approaches at autrojans.com.
