Men's Indoor Track and Field Completes First Meet of 2022-23 Season

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Anderson University men's track and field team opened the 2022-23 indoor season at the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-Off on Saturday (Dec. 3).

Three freshmen pole vaulters led the way for the Trojans, as Tyler Farris placed third with a distance of 4.10m. Joe Durrell and Lucas Pryor each recorded at 3.80m, placing sixth and eighth respectively. In the shot put, Grayson Smith finished 24th at 9.16m.

On the track, Dylan Lego impressed in the 3,000m at a pace of 8:54.06 to finish seventh. David Williams (8:59.59) and Noah Brock (9:18.33) finished 10th and 16th, respectively. Ben Molitor ran well in the 200m with a time of 23:09, finishing 12th. Logan Berzins (23:58) and Zach Cannon also ran in the event for the Trojans, taking 21st and 34th. Ian Macurda ran the 400m in a time of 53:50 for 18th place.

The 4x400m relay team featuring Berzins, Molitor, Cannon, and Farris placed sixth with a time of 3:34.11.

"We had a great showing today with multiple indoor personal bests and a school record on the women's side," said assistant coach Andrew Mudd. "Our athletes worked very hard this fall and it showed in their performances. As a team we are far ahead of where we were at this time last year. It will be exciting to see where we can go from here."

The Trojans will be back in action on Friday (Dec. 9) as they travel to Allendale, Michigan for the Holiday Open. Results can be found at autrojans.com.
