Farris Sets Heptathlon School Record at SAC Indoor Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Anderson University men's track and field team completed the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday (Feb. 25) at the JDL Fastrack, finishing in seventh place with a total of 32 points.

"Our men and women put together a spectacular weekend at the SAC Championships," said coach Kevin Eagle. "Everyone stepped it up big time and peaked at the right moment. We have too many great performances to name, but I cannot be prouder on how team competed. We will take the next two weeks to regroup as we get ready for a busy outdoor season."

Tyler Farris headlined day two for the men by setting a school record for the heptathlon with a total of 3,748 points. On day one, Farris set the pole vault record (4.55m) alongside Lambdin Hardy and Will O'Cain.

Elliot Dotson just missed a podium finish in the mile run, coming in at fourth place at a pace of 4:13.29. Spain Vaughan recorded an eighth-place finish with a mark of 8:24.12 in the 3000m to provisionally qualify for NCAA Nationals. Dotson (8:33.71), Daniel Similton (8:44.74), and Jonathan Roberts (8:45.98) took 12th, 15th, and 16th, respectively. David Williams (8:56.75), Michael Burgess (9:00.86), and Bryson Mace (9:15.09) rounded out the event for the Trojans.

The men's 4x400m relay consisting of Logan Berzins, Ian Macurda, Adam Trusty, and Ben Molitor took seventh place with a time of 3:28.03. In the high jump, Simeon Respress finished 10th (1.86m) with Logan Berzins at 17th at 1.76m. Grayson Smith posted 10.58m in the shot put.

This concludes the indoor season for the Trojans, with the outdoor season slated to begin at home March 17th -18th for the Trojan Opener.
