Cantrell Sets 60 Hurdles School Record at USC Indoor Open

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Anderson University men's track and field team completed competition at the USC Indoor Open on Friday (Feb. 17).

Michael Burgess impressed in the 3000m with a personal record of 9:07.97 to finish fourth. In the 60m hurdles prelims, Dallas Cantrell had a mark of 9.04 to set a new Anderson school record. Logan Berzins (52.56) ran in the 400m for the Trojans. Daniel Similton ran the 3000m in a time of 8:49.67.

In the field, Simeon Respress had a top-10 finish (1.85m) for eighth place with Logan Berzins (1.75m) taking 15th. Respress also competed in the long jump (6.25m). Will O'Cain and Lambdin Hardy each had 4.10m in the pole vault, with Lucas Pryor coming in at 3.95m. Grayson Smith recorded a PR in the shot put (10.32m) while also competing in the weight throw (9.81m).

"We had a great final tune-up meet today with multiple PR's and a school record," said assistant coach Andrew Mudd. "We are setting ourselves up really well for many high finishes at the SAC indoor championships next weekend."

On Friday, Spain Vaughan, Elliot Dotson, Adam Trusty, and Ben Molitor competed at the JDL DMR Invitational, coming in third place in the DMR with a combined time of 10:16.77. The Trojans will be back in action next week (Feb. 25 – 26) for the SAC Indoor Championships in Winston-Salem, N.C. More information can be found at autrojans.com as the meet approaches.
