Men’s Golf in Fourth Place at Tennessee River Rumble with Play Suspended in Second Round

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. – With play suspended midway through Monday's second round, the top-ranked Anderson men's golf team is in fourth place at Lincoln Memorial's Tennessee River Rumble, which is being hosted on a par-73, 7,065-yard layout at the Wind River Golf Course.

"We started a little slow in the first round as a team but made some birdies and ended up with a decent score," said Anderson Director of Golf Danny Neal. "Reece (Coleman) played well shooting a 68, and together with solid rounds of 71 by Alejandro (de Castro) and Daniel (Coker) and an even-par 72 from Calahan (Keever), we weren't in bad position. In the second round, we just made too many bogeys and struggled on the greens, which leaves us with a lot of ground to make up. Hopefully, we can play more consistently tomorrow and putt a bit better and catch as many teams as we can."

The two-day, 54-hole event is featuring a 20-team field, including five of the top-25 teams in the nation.

With the second round only partially complete, the team leaderboard shows North Georgia in the top spot and Lee just behind. No. 15 Carson-Newman is third, with the Trojans holding the fourth slot. The host Railsplitters, No. 13 Clayton State and Belmont Abbey all share fifth place, while Newberry and Coker are eighth and ninth, respectively. Missouri-St. Louis is in 10th place, with Limestone and Erskine in 11th and 12th place, respectively.

Lenoir-Rhyne, Lander, King, Wingate, Lincoln Memorial (B), North Greenville, Young Harris and Maryville rounded out the field.

The remainder of the second round is slated to get underway Tuesday morning.
