NORMAN, Okla. – After opening the season with back-to-back tournament victories, the Anderson men's golf team received three first-place votes and is ranked seventh nationally in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll, as released Friday morning.
The Trojans, who had previously made their only appearance in the Bushnell/Golfweek Poll at No. 25 in March, 2021, vaulted into the No. 7 spot after claiming wins at North Georgia's Mizuno Intercollegiate and Columbus State's Cougar Invitational.
AU opened the season by outdueling seven teams in Friday's top-25 at the Mizuno Intercollegiate, then outlasted Lee and Clayton State for a second time at last week's Cougar Invitational. Despite receiving six first-place votes, Lee was overtaken by Barry for the top spot in the poll.
In addition to Lincoln Memorial at No. 9, joining the Trojans from the South Atlantic Conference was Limestone at No. 10 and Carson-Newman at 14th, with
Tusculum, Newberry and Lenoir-Rhyne each receiving votes in the latest poll.
AU will be looking for an unprecedented three in a row, when the Trojans travel to Camden, Monday and Tuesday, for the Camden Collegiate, which will be hosted by Limestone.
