Keever Named SAC Varsity Gems Men’s Golfer of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. – After firing a school-record 9-under-par 63 in the final round of Lincoln Memorial's Spring Kick-off Intercollegiate eight days ago, Anderson junior Calahan Keever has been named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Men's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.

The Greenville native, who entered the tourney ranked 13th in the nation, saw his record-setting effort propel the No. 1-ranked Trojans to their fifth straight tournament victory.

He carded his school-record 63 behind seven birdies and an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole, en route to claiming his first outright career title. He also carded a second-round 67 during the tournament, which matched the fifth-lowest round in program history. His 54-hole 199 shattered the previous school-record 206 that he previously shared with teammate Reece Coleman.

The bi-weekly award is awarded to the top golfer in the SAC based on their results from the previous two weeks of play.

The Trojans will get back on the links, Monday and Tuesday, at the Eighth Annual Hurricane Invitational, which will be hosted by Georgia Southwestern, at the Doublegate Country club in Albany, Ga.
