Men’s Golf Stretches Win Streak to Five Consecutive Tourneys with Wire-to-Wire Win at LMU’s Spring Kick-off

SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Behind junior Calahan Keever's school-record 9-under-par 63 in the final round, the nationally top-ranked Anderson men's golf team continued to build its legacy by winning its program-record fifth straight tournament title by finishing in first place, Tuesday afternoon at Lincoln Memorial's Spring Kick-off Intercollegiate.

The Railsplitters hosted the two-day, 54-hole event at the 7,136 yard, par-72 St. Johns Golf and Country Club.

"I am so proud of these guys!" said Anderson Director of Golf Danny Neal. "This team just continues to impress and dominate - setting records along the way. The guys won this week by 14 shots in a field with several top 25 teams. Calahan (Keever) showed out with a school record round today and finished with a three round total of 199 to win low medalist honors! Reece (Coleman) finished under par for the tournament and made the All -Tournament Team. With two weeks until our next event, we will get back to work and prepare for another test at Doublegate CC. Hopefully, we can continue to play well and ride this wave of success."

The top-ranked Trojans began the day with a nine-shot lead over Palm Beach Atlantic and a 13-stroke cushion over 12th-ranked Georgia Southwestern – and finished with a 14-shot win over the runner-up Hurricanes, while Palm Beach Atlantic finished two shots further back in third place.

North Georgia moved up two spots to finish in fourth place, while Lander vaulted from a share of ninth into fifth place. Newberry and Lincoln Memorial claimed sixth and seventh place respectively, while Limestone finished in the eighth slot.

Columbus State fell from fifth to ninth, with Coker finishing in 10th place. Lynn claimed the 11th slot, while Belmont Abbey tumbled from third place following Monday's first two rounds into a 12th-place finish. Flagler, Wingate, Lenoir-Rhyne, Catawba and King finished out the 17-team field.

Keever (69-67-63=199), who entered the tourney ranked 13th in the nation, fired his school-record 63 behind seven birdies and an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole, en route to claiming his first outright career title. Palm Beach Atlantic's Andrew Riley (69-70-68=207) finished a distant runner-up, while Georgia Southwestern's Nicholas Escobar (73-70-69=212) shared third place with Lander's Linus Johnson (69-75-68=212) and AU's Reece Coleman (71-71-70=212).

Trojan freshman Alejandro de Castro (70-73-73=216) shared 11th place, with
