No. 7 Men’s Golf Set for Camden Collegiate

ANDERSON, S.C. – After winning back-to-back, season-opening tournaments in the Peach State, the nationally seventh-ranked Anderson men's golf team now turns its attention to the Palmetto State, as the Trojans are slated to compete at the Camden Collegiate, which will be hosted by Limestone at the Camden Country Club, Monday and Tuesday in Camden, S.C.

The 54-hole tournament (Par 70 – 6,455 Yards) is scheduled for 36 holes on Monday, followed by a final round of 18 on Tuesday.

The Trojans made their first appearance at the Camden Collegiate in last year's season opener and finished in 12th place behind Reece Coleman's three-round, 5-over-par 215.

The Port Elizabeth, South Africa, native claimed a share of 21st place a year ago, while Simon Wright finished in a tie for 39th place in his collegiate debut and Calahan Keever earned a share of 49th place.

Through the first two tourney victories this year, Coleman has paced the Trojans with a 69.33 unadjusted stroke average, while finishing third at the Mizuno Intercollegiate and finishing as runner-up to pace AU last week at Columbus State. He fired the third-lowest round in program history with a 5-under-par 65 in the second round of the Cougar Invitational and has already carded rounds of 67 and 68 this year.

Keever is close behind Coleman with a 69.50 unadjusted stroke average and was named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week two weeks ago, after finishing in a tie for first in Gainesville. He tied the school record with a 54-hole 206 and led the Trojans to the Mizuno Intercollegiate Championship.

The junior from Greenville followed up with a fourth-place finish at the Cougar Invitational after carding rounds of 69 and 67 last Monday. Both Coleman and Keever flirted with individual medalist honors in west Georgia, while finishing just four shots and six shots, respectively, off the pace set by Lee University's Beck Burnette.

Sophomore Simon Wright has posted a 73.67 stroke average through six rounds, while sharing 14th place last week in Columbus. The Lancaster native carded a season-low 69 in last Monday's opening round, which was just two strokes off his career best.

Freshman Alejandro de Castro owns a 74.67 stroke average after claiming a share of 26th place in his first collegiate outing in Gainesville, then capturing a share of 33rd place a week ago. The native of St. Esteve Sesrovires, Spain, fired a season-low, 1-over 73 in the first round of UNG's Mizuno Intercollegiate.

Senior Parker MacDonald has notched a pair of 73s on the season, while recording a 75.00 stroke average through six rounds. A native of Greer, MacDonald finished in a tie for 33rd at last week's Cougar Invitational.
