Trojans Sweep SAC Golfer of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Following two weeks of stellar performances on the course, Anderson golf standouts Kennedy Gooding and Reece Coleman have been named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Women's Golfer and Men's Golfer of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.

Gooding led the fifth-ranked Trojans to a whopping 29-shot victory at Limestone's Low Tide Intercollegiate last week while capturing her first individual career championship behind a school-record, 54-hole 13-under-par 203.

While playing as an individual, the Lexington, S.C., native claimed the championship by setting the school's benchmark for 36 holes and 54 holes, while matching the program record for a single round, as well.

Coleman, who earlier in the week was named the February, 2023 SwingU College Player of the Month for NCAA Division II, led the top-ranked Trojans to their sixth tournament title of the year this year on Tuesday, when AU outpaced host Lander by four shots to win the title.

Behind the sixth-lowest three-round score in program history, Coleman claimed his first outright individual tournament championship by winning Georgia Southwestern's 8th Annual Hurricane Invitational last week, then helped lead the Trojans to the lowest round in program history with a 13-under-par, second-round 275 in Greenwood on Monday, while finishing in a tie for third overall.

The bi-weekly award is awarded to the top golfer in the SAC based on their results from the previous two weeks of play.

The Trojan women are slated to get back on the links at the Findlay Spring Invite, which will be hosted by the Oilers at the University of Kentucky's Big Blue course in Lexington, Ky., March 20-21, and following a three-week layoff, the men's squad will get back on the links at Lincoln Memorial's Tennessee River Rumble in Lenoir City, Tenn., March 27-28.
