WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Anderson University women's track and field team completed day one of the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday (Feb. 25) at the JDL Fastrack. The Trojans sit in seventh place with a total of 15 points.

Lacey Boozer and Brianna Quartararo ran well in the 400m prelims as they each had qualifying times of 58.38 and 59.48, respectively. Boozer's time set the new 400m indoor school record. The Trojans had a trio post qualifying marks in the 800m as Aubrey Quillen (2:20.57), Whitney Hanson (2:20.06), and Emma Whitaker (2:20.54) all advanced to the finals. Emily Golden (17:58.66), Elise Matthews (18:01.77), and Faith Nelson (18:19.80) all recorded top-10 finishes in the 5000m.

The women's distance medley relay team consisting of Rebecca Ward, Joeli Hayden, Alysse Rowland, and Aubrey Quillen finished fourth with a combined time of 12:50. Mclayne Wyatt (5:30.71), Hagan Wilson (5:43.78), Kaelan Pierce (5:48.07), Hannah Reedy (5:56.62) all ran the mile. Joeli Hayden had a mark of 8.24 seconds in the 60m prelims.

Georgia Piper competed in the 60m hurdles (12.54), 800m (2:45.12), long jump (4.12m), shot put (8.08m), and high jump (1.53m) which she took second place in, as part of the indoor pentathlon. Kristen Leonard finished in the top-five in the pole vault at 3.08m. Sarah Wimpee took 17th in the weight throw at 12.16m.

"We could not have asked for a better day as we got several people into tomorrow's finals and picked up points in places that were unexpected," said coach Kevin Eagle. "It was a great day for the program as we broke three school records, and we have potential to do the same tomorrow. We all need to rest up and prepare for a big final day of competition tomorrow."

The Trojans will complete the SAC Indoor Championships on Sunday (Feb. 26) as the action begins at 10:30 a.m.
