Women's Track and Field Selected Third in SAC Preseason Poll

ROCK HILL, S.C – The Anderson University women's track and field team was selected to finish third in the indoor track and field preseason poll, announced by the league office. Indoor track and field season is set to begin on Saturday (Dec. 3) at the Winston-Salem College Kick-Off at the JDL Fast Track.

Lenoir-Rhyne topped the poll with eight first place votes, with Wingate placing second with the remaining four first place votes. Following Anderson at No.3 were Carson-Newman (No.4) and Limestone (No.5) to round out the top-five.

On the track, Emma Deadwyler was named an athlete to watch alongside freshman Sarah Wimpee for the field.

The Trojans will travel to Allendale, Michigan next week (Dec. 9) for the Holiday Open for the final meet of the 2022 semester. January kicks off with a pair of meets in Columbia, S.C. on the campus of South Carolina on Jan. 14 for the Gamecock Opener, and a two-day meet Jan. 20 – 21 for the Carolina Challenge. Anderson returns to Winston-Salem the following weekend (Feb. 3 – 4) for the Camel City Invitational.

Anderson returns to Allendale, Michigan for the Grand Valley State University (GVSU) Big Meet, a two-day event ranging from Feb. 10 – 11. Coach Kevin Eagle's squad goes back to Columbia for the third time in the season on Feb. 17 for the USC Indoor Open. The South Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships are set for Feb. 25 -26 in Winston-Salem, with the NCAA National Championships slated for Mar. 10 – 11 in Virginia Beach, VA to conclude the season.

The Trojans are sending around 20 athletes total to the meet, with most distance runners participating in the NCAA Cross Country National Championships this weekend in Seattle, Washington. More information can be found at autrojans.com.
