Women's Track and Field Completes Carolina Challenge

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Anderson University women's track and field team completed their second meet of the 2023 season at a very competitive Carolina Challenge, facing off against 17 Division I schools on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 20 – 21).

The women's 4x400m relay team consisting of Lacey Boozer, Brianna Quartararo, Emma Whitaker, and Alysse Rowland ran well, finishing in fourth place with a combined time of 4:05.90. In the 200m, Lacey Boozer ran a 26.30 for 34th place, with Joeli Hayden pacing at 27.79 for 66th. Brianna Quartararo impressed in the 400m with a mark of 58.99 to finish 14th. Freshmen Emma Whitaker (2:24.25) and Alysse Rowland (2:28.69) each ran the 800m.

In the 3,000m, freshmen Sarah Rudolph (11:08.61) and Lucy Schmitt (11:13.69) impressed to finish fifth and sixth, respectively. Madison Crumley was close behind at 11:30.22 for a personal record and a 10th place finish. Aubrey Quillen ran a 5:19.19 in the one mile run invite, while Rebecca Ward (5:26.93) and Hagan Wilson (5:29.75) competed in the afternoon session.

Emily Golden (18:02.21) and Elise Matthews (18:10.91) each recorded top-10 finishes in the 5,000m invite by taking seventh and ninth, respectively. In another 5k race, Mclayne Wyatt finished seventh (19:48.30) with Hannah Reedy close behind at 21:16 for 13th place. Sarah Wimpee recorded distances of 11.51m in the weight throw and 10.47m in the shot put.

The Trojans will be back in action on Friday (Feb. 3) as they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the Camel City Invitational. More information can be found on autrojans.com as the meet approaches.
