Piper Sets Indoor High Jump School Record at Winston-Salem Kick-Off

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Anderson University women's track and field team opened the 2022-23 indoor season at the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-Off on Saturday (Dec. 3).

Georgia Piper headlined the day for the Trojans by setting a new indoor school record in the high jump with a distance of 1.64m to take fourth place. Sarah Wimpee had marks of 10.33m in the shot put, and 11.71m in the weight throw.

On the track, Lacey Boozer impressed in the 200m with a time of 26.08. Brianna Quartararo ran well in the 400m (1:00.41) to take 12th, while Autumn Bladen was close behind at 1:01.99 for 21st.

The 4x400m relay team of Boozer, Bladen, Quartararo, and Joeli Hayden placed fourth with a total time of 4:04.46.

"We had a great showing today with multiple indoor personal bests and a school record," said assistant coach Andrew Mudd. "Our athletes worked very hard this fall and it showed in their performances. As a team we are far ahead of where we were at this time last year. It will be exciting to see where we can go from here."

The Trojans will be back in action on Friday (Dec. 9) as they travel to Allendale, Michigan for the Holiday Open. Results can be found at autrojans.com.
