Five Trojans Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

ANDERSON, S.C. – Emily Golden, Whitney Hanson, Faith Nelson, Aubrey Quillen, and Hannah Reedy of the Anderson University women's track and field/cross country teams have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team (formerly known as CoSIDA) announced on Wednesday (May 31).

The teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track and in the classroom.

Golden, a junior from Tifton, GA, is a Kinesiology major with a 4.0 GPA. Emily was a key member of the women's cross-country team that qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships. There, Golden ran a personal best in the 6k with a time of 22:40.4 and helped the Trojans win the NCAA Elite 90 Team GPA Award. She also set a personal best in the 5k at the UAH DII Festival Year Showcase (18:48.8) and was named USTFCCCA All-Academic. During the SAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, Golden set personal bests in the 3,000m (10:23.99) and 5,000m (17:58.66) to secure eighth and sixth place finishes, respectively.

Hanson, a senior from Colstrip, MT, is a marketing major with a 3.86 GPA. Whitney was named USTFCCCA All-Region for the steeplechase. Whitney's best time came in the 3,000mSC at the Georgia Tech Invitational with a mark of 11:04.06. At the SAC Outdoor Championships, Hanson came in second place at 11:24.12 for the podium finish. Along with Golden, Hanson was a key member of the cross-country team helping the Trojans win the Elite 90 Team GPA Award and was named USTFCCCA All-Academic. At Nationals, she led the Trojans in the 6k with a time of 22:34.0.

Nelson, a junior from Moore, S.C., is a nursing major with a 3.82 GPA. Faith is a member of both track and field and cross-country, contributing to both the run to nationals and the Elite 90 Team GPA Award. At nationals, Nelson ran a 23:35.9 and was later named USTFCCCA All-Academic. During indoor and outdoor track season, Nelson had a pair of top-five finishes in the 5,000m: fourth place at the DII Indoor Track & Field Pre-Nationals (18:55.55) and fifth place at the Trojan Opener (18:56.18).

Quillen, a senior from Sumter, S.C., is a Christian Studies major with a 4.0 GPA. Aubrey was named the 2022 South Atlantic Conference Wealth Enhancement Group Elite 23 Award Winner at the conclusion of the SAC Cross-Country Championships. During outdoor track season, Quillen won the 5,000m with a time of 18:16.35 at the Newberry-Hub City Invitational and the 800m at the Trojan Opener (2:19) setting personal records in both events.

Reedy, a sophomore from Beaufort, S.C., is a nursing major with a 4.0 GPA. This season in cross-country, Hannah set personal bests in the 6k (25:58.8) at the Converse Kick-Off, and the 5k (21:03.9) at the UAH DII Festival Year Showcase. Reedy set four more personal bests during track season, with two of them coming at the SAC Indoor Championships: 3,000m (11:44.24) and the mile run (5:56.62). At the Newberry Hub City Invitational, she ran a 20:26.60 in the 5,000m and a 5:31.08 in the 1,500m prelims at the SAC Outdoor Championships.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 28th

The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

To be eligible for Academic All-District consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or important reserve, competing in at least 50% of events, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution.
