Boozer Sets 200m School Record at USC Indoor Open

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Anderson University women's track and field team completed action at the USC Indoor Open on Friday (Feb. 17).

Lacey Boozer headlined the day for the Trojans by setting a school indoor record in the 200m (25.74) to finish 20th. She also set a PR in the 60m (8.19). Georgia Piper impressed as well as she won the high jump with a distance of 1.55m. Sarah Wimpee recorded distances of 10.60m and 12.33m in the shot put and weight throw.

Emma Whitaker recorded a personal record in the 800m with a mark of 2:20.46 to finish in fifth place. In the mile run, Rebecca Ward recorded a top-five finish (5:28.79) with Hannah Reedy (6:05.84) and Kaelan Pierce finishing side by side for 11th and 12th, respectively.

"Lacey has been chasing this record all season and to break it by .2 seconds at this point of the year shows the work she has put in," said assistant coach Andrew Mudd. "She has proven she will race at her best when it matters most."

The Trojans will be back in action next week (Feb. 25 – 26) for the SAC Indoor Championships in Winston-Salem, N.C. More information can be found at autrojans.com as the meet approaches.
