Women's Track and Field Finishes in Third At Montreat College Invitational

MONTREAT, N.C. - The Anderson University women's track and field team had a very successful weekend at the Montreat College Invitational, including several event wins and finishing in third place as a team.

Day One:

On day one, Katie Landry got things going for the Trojans by winning the shot put with a distance of 11.50m. Aubrey Stoddard finished in second place in the 3000m steeplechase (12:31.44) while Madison Crumley came in third place at 12:52.47. Lauren Pernell had a great day for the Trojans as well as she came in third place in the 100m hurdles (15.93) and fifth place in the high jump (1.51m).

Hannah Beach ran well in the 5000m with a time of 18:56.61, finishing in sixth place. Elise Matthews took eighth place (19.13.77) while Faith Nelson came in sixth place in the 10000m (39:47.34).

Day Two:

Kamryn Osterbind continued the success on day two for the Trojans by winning the 800m in a time of 2:13.86. Brianna Quartararo came in second place with a mark of 2:15.87. The women's 4x400m relay team of Emma Deadwyler, Olivia Rish, Kamryn Osterbind, and Brianna Quartararo finished in second place with a combined mark of 3:56.62 to set a school record.

In the heptathlon, Katie Landry set a school record by finishing third with 4,351 points while Lauren Pernell came in fifth at 4,016. Emma Deadwyler completed the 100m in 12.73 seconds. As a team, the Trojans came in third place with a total of 61 points.

"Starting the day off with a school record in the heptathlon and finishing it with another one in the 4x400m relay made this entire meet enjoyable," said coach Kevin Eagle. "We had more personal bests all around and are really setting ourselves up to do well at the end of the season when it matters the most."

The Trojans will be back in action on Saturday (Apr. 3) as they travel to Central, S.C. for the SWU Open (sprints/throws only). Live results can be found at www.autrojans.com
