COLUMBIA, S.C. – On Saturday (Feb. 7) the Anderson University women's track and field team completed their first meet of 2021 at the CIU Invitational in Columbia, S.C. Head coach Kevin Eagle was proud of the team's performance than included several top 10 finishes and a win in the indoor pentathlon and the 4x400m relay.

"Our women had some big goals going into today and they achieved a lot of them," said Eagle. "We had several women racing for the first time in over a year, so it was nice to see them perform at a high level as well. We had several personal bests throughout the day to go along with many top five finishes. From starting the day off with a 2nd place finish in the 200m race to the 4x400m relay win, our women truly competed all day. The group is excited to see their fitness grow as the season progresses on."

The Trojans had a successful day one on Friday (Feb. 5) as Brianna Quartararo ran a 1:38.31 in the 600m to shatter an AU school record. Katie Landry also had a career day for the Trojans as she won the women's pentathlon with a new personal best.

On day two, Emma Deadwyler ran well in the 200m with a time of 26.49, finishing in second place. Kamryn Osterbind earned a second place finish as well in the 800m with a mark of 2:19.14. Perhaps the highlight of the weekend was the victorious 4x400m relay team which included Osterbind, Quartararo, Aubrey Stoddard and Lauren Childers. These four Trojans won the event by posting a time of 4:14.94. The Trojans will be back in action next Sunday (Feb. 14) for the LR Polar Bear Meet in Hickory, N.C. with live results available at www.autrojans.com.
