Isaiah Hines and Emma Deadwyler Named Jimmy John's Male and Female Athletes of the Week

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University women's track and field and women's soccer player Emma Deadwyler and men's lacrosse attacker Isaiah Hines have been named the Jimmy John's Male and Female Athletes of the Week.

Deadwyler, a freshman from Travelers Rest, S.C., won the 100m at the Susan Rouse Invitational on Saturday (Mar. 6) by running a time of 12.62, the second fastest time in the SAC this season. Deadwyler also placed fourth in the 200m with a mark of 25.76, the fastest 200m time in the SAC this year. She also played a critical role on the Trojan women's soccer team, scoring the winning goal in Thursday's (Mar. 4) 1-0 win over Newberry in overtime.

"In just a short time, Emma has already showed what she is capable of when given the opportunity," said coach Kevin Eagle. "As a two-sport athlete with soccer, she has done a great job balancing her focus on both sports. I cannot wait to see what she can accomplish once her focus is solely on running!"

Hines, a freshman from Allen, Texas, is the leading scorer for the Trojans with 18 goals, which ranks him third in the SAC in goals. Hines scored eight goals this week, four in each win over Lincoln Memorial and Mars Hill. He also racked up four ground balls, four caused turnovers, and three assists.
"We are excited to see Isaiah's hard work be recognized," said coach Albert Mitchell. "He has been relentless getting to the goal and has been great in the ride. This award is also a recognition to the many great teammates that worked hard to help him finish plays."

Each week, one male and one female student-athlete are honored as the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Week for his or her performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
