Osterbind And Appleby Win Events At LR Bears Open; Deadwyler Sets 400m School Record

HICKORY, N.C. - The Anderson University women's track and field team had a very successful afternoon at the LR Bears Open on Sunday (Mar. 21) by winning two events and several top 10 finishes.

Kamryn Osterbind won the 800m with a time of 2:14.66, and Regan Appleby was victorious in the shot put with a distance of 12.38m. Olivia Rish finished in second place in the 1500m with a mark of 4:48.14, while Elise Matthews, Aubrey Stoddard, and Hannah Beach recorded top 10 finishes. Emma Deadwyler set a school record in the 400m dash (57.93) meanwhile Katie Landry took sixth place (59.70). Deadwyler also competed in the 200m, finishing at 25.66 which placed her fourth.

Lauren Pernell finished fourth in the 400m hurdles (1:07.79), while also competing in the high jump (1.49m). Madison Crumley took third place in the 3000m steeplechase (12:52.02) and Brianna Quartararo also took third place in the 800m (2:20.36). Faith Nelson recorded another top 10 finish for the Trojans in the 5000m run with a mark of 19:16.12.

"I am proud of how everyone on the team competed today," said coach Kevin Eagle. "Across the board, we had lots of great times including a new school record and personal bests. We now have a few days off to prepare for our next meet."
