Emma Deadwyler Named SAC Astroturf Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

ANDERSON, S.C. – On Tuesday (Mar. 9) the South Atlantic Conference announced Anderson University's Emma Deadwyler as the women's outdoor track athlete of the week.

Deadwyler, a freshman from Travelers Rest, S.C., won the 100m at the Susan Rouse Invitational on Saturday (Mar. 6) by running a time of 12.62, the second fastest time in the SAC this season. Deadwyler also placed fourth in the 200m with a mark of 25.76, the fastest 200m time in the SAC this year. She also played a critical role on the Trojan women's soccer team, scoring the winning goal in Thursday's (Mar. 4) 1-0 win over Newberry in overtime.

"In just a short time, Emma has already showed what she is capable of when given the opportunity," said coach Kevin Eagle. "As a two-sport athlete with soccer, she has done a great job balancing her focus on both sports. I cannot wait to see what she can accomplish once her focus is solely on running!"

The Trojans will be back in action on Sunday (Mar. 21) as they travel to Lenoir-Rhyne for the LR Bears Open. Live results can be found at www.autrojans.com.
