Trojans Erase Halftime Deficit To Earn Draw At Tusculum; 2-2

GREENEVILLE, TENN. – After falling behind by two goals during the first half of action, Anderson University women's soccer (6-2-4, 3-1-3 SAC) answered back in the second half of play to earn the 2-2 draw against South Atlantic Conference opponent Tusculum (6-3-2, 1-3-2 SAC) on Wednesday evening at Pioneer Field.

"I'm proud of the effort to get back into the game in the second half," said head coach Sarah Jacobs. "We're looking forward to being back at home and honoring our seniors on Saturday."

Tusculum took advantage of a sluggish start by the Trojans, scoring in the 10th and 21st minute of the match.

After several good runs late in the first half and in the second half of play, Anderson was able to find the back of the net. Freshman Carley Keuffer placed her free kick just in front of the 18 where senior Spencer Heming was able to head the ball past the keeper.

In the 64th minute of play, Anderson was awarded a corner kick. Freshman Meggie Powell drilled a perfectly struck ball that bent into the goal for the equalizer. Neither team could punch one in to earn the valuable three points, rather settling for the one-point draw.

The Black and Gold outshot the Pioneers 14-5 with 11 shots coming on goal to Tusculum's four shots on goal. Anderson also owned the corner kick advantage, 8-1.

Anderson's senior keeper Jeanette Campbell was credited with two saves on the evening, while Pioneer keeper Grayson Patterson earned eight stops.

Anderson returns to action on Saturday when it welcomes SAC opponent Coker to Spero Financial Field. The Trojans will recognize their six seniors before the match begins. Kick-off is slated for 5 pm.
