Trojans Run Home Win Streak To Three Games With Solid Win Over Belmont Abbey; 3-0

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University women's soccer (3-1) remain unbeaten on its home turf defeating Belmont Abbey (0-2-1), 3-0, on Saturday evening at Spero Financial Field.

"I'm proud of both the effort and the result tonight, said head coach Sarah Jacobs. "We stayed true to who we are and imposed our will against a good opponent. We're looking to use this momentum as we begin conference play on Wednesday."  

Freshman Camryn Woods set the tone early with her fourth goal of the season coming in the eighth minute of play.

Anderson's effort on the defensive side of the ball, allowed the Black and Gold to switch directions and go directly into attack mode, resulting in two more strike's in the match to set the final score at, 3-0.

Freshman Catherine Nardella scored her first career goal after a beautiful touch from senior Haley Sanneman. Nardella gathered the pass and drilled the shot from distance to the top near post to put the Trojans up, 2-0, just before the half.

Anderson tacked on one more goal in the second half of play when senior Kendall Simpson crossed to junior Kristen Cole. Cole was able to direct the pass just inside the post as she slid out of bounds.

Belmont Abbey took 14 shots on the evening with nine coming on goal. Senior goal keeper Jeanette Campbell was credited with the nine saves while AU's backline forced a few misguided shots with their defensive effort.

On the night, AU outshot the Crusaders 15-14 and won the corner kick advantage 7-3.

Anderson opens South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday when it travels to Wingate. Kick-off is slated for 5 pm.
